How does the treatment work?
Medik8 Peels work by using a blend of gentle exfoliating acids to remove the outer layer of dead skin cells, promoting skin regeneration. We offer a range of Medik8 peels to provide bespoke solutions for your individual skin type and concerns. Applied to the skin with a small brush, the acids break down the bonds between dead skin cells, allowing them to shed more easily.
As the dead skin cells slough off, it stimulates the production of fresh, healthy skin cells beneath, promoting a smoother skin texture. Medik8 peels are formulated to address specific skin concerns, such as hyperpigmentation, fine lines, acne, or dullness, by improving skin tone, texture and clarity.

How does it feel during treatment?
You may feel a mild tingling or warming sensation as the acids work to exfoliate the skin. This is normal and typically lasts only for a few minutes. The intensity of the sensation can vary depending on your skin type and the strength of the peel being used. Some people experience a light sting or slight heat, but it's generally tolerable. After the peel is neutralized, the sensation usually fades, and the skin feels calm. Post-treatment, your skin may feel slightly tight or sensitive, but discomfort is typically minimal.
How long does the treatment take?
The skin will be cleansed and prepped for the peel, then the peel will be applied and left on for a short amount of time (between 5-15 minutes). After the peel is removed or neutralised, a soothing mask or serum will be applied. The total treatment time will be around 30-45 minutes.
How many treatments will I need?
A single peel can reveal fresh, rejuvenated skin. but for long term results, a series of 3-6 peels is recommended. For deeper results for concerns such as acne or scarring, a series of 6 treatments are typically recommended, spaced 4-6 weeks apart.
What is the downtime?
The downtime after a Medik8 peel is minimal. Immediately after treatment your skin may feel slightly tight, and may appear red, similar to a mild sunburn. This usually lasts a few hours. Over the next few days, mild peeling or flaking may occur, but it’s usually light and less noticeable than stronger peels. Most clients can return to their usual activities straight away, with only minor redness and sensitivity.
When will I see results?
With Medik8 peels, you’ll see immediate brightness and smoother texture right after the treatment. Within 1-2 weeks, your skin will appear more even, with improved tone and reduced fine lines. After 3-4 weeks, you'll notice clearer skin, fewer breakouts, and softer wrinkles. Full results, especially for deeper concerns like pigmentation or scarring, become visible after 2-3 treatments.
How should I prepare for the treatment?
For best results, follow these pre treatment steps:
- Stop using retinoids, other AHA’s, BHA’s or Vitamin C for at least 48 hours prior to treatment
- Avoid sun exposure for a few days to a week before the treatment
- Stay hydrated
- Avoid waxing or shaving the area 24-48 hours before the treatment - the skin will be more sensitive
What is the aftercare?
- Stay hydrated - drink at least 2 litres of water daily
- Avoid sun exposure for 1-2 weeks following treatment
- Apply SPF50+ daily
- Avoid harsh skincare products such as exfoliants, Vitamin C and retinoids for 3-5 days - use hydrating and moisturising products
- Don’t pick or scrub the skin - let the skin shed naturally to avoid irritation or scarring
- Avoid hot showers, saunas, or steam rooms for 3 days
