How does the treatment work?
The appointment begins with a full consultation, brow mapping, and a discussion about shape, color, and style. After numbing the area, your artist will carefully create each stroke by hand for precision and detail. A follow-up touch-up appointment is required 6-8 weeks later to perfect the final result.
Result & Aftercare
Days 1-14:
- Keep the area clean and dry - blot gently with a clean tissue if there’s excess fluid
- No touching, picking or scratching - let scabs flake off natural to avoid pigment loss or scarring
- Avoid water, steam and sweat - no swimming, saunas, steam or intense exercise for 7-10 days
- Stay out of direct sunlight - sun exposure can fade pigment
- No makeup or skincare on the treated area
Long term (after initial healing):
- Avoid excessive sun exposure or sunbeds
- Use SPF+ on the brows once fully healed
- Avoid chemical peels or lasers on the brow area
- Touch up yearly or as recommended by your practitioner
FAQ'S
How long does Microblading last?
Typically 1-5 years, depending on skin type, lifestyle and aftercare. Top-ups are typically needed every 12-18 months, however some clients may need more frequently, while others may find that their results last longer.
Does it hurt?
Some mild discomfort may occur, but a numbing cream is applied beforehand to reduce pain.
How long is the healing process?
Initial healing takes 7-14 days, but full healing can take 4-6 weeks.
Do I need a follow-up appointment?
Microblading is a two step process. A follow-up appointment is required (usually 4-6 weeks after the initial treatment) as it ensures even pigment retention across the entire brow. Skipping the follow-up could result in brows that fade too quickly or appear uneven.
Will my brows look too dark?
They may appear darker at first but fade and soften during healing for a natural look.
How should I prepare for the treatment?
To ensure best results, follow these pre-treatment steps:
- Avoid alcohol, caffeine and blood thinning medications (such as aspirin and ibuprofen) for 24-48 hours before treatment to reduce the risk of bruising and bleeding.
- Do not use retinoids, exfoliants or strong skincare products on or around the brow area for 5-7 days prior to treatment.
- Avoid sun tanning or sun exposure for at least 1 week before treatment.
- Avoid waxing, threading or plucking the brows for 1 week before treatment to ensure the technician can work with the natural shape of the brows.
